Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected districts in Kerala on Tuesday, announcing a central relief package of Rs 500 crore for the state. The Prime Minister met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and reviewed the situation in Wayanad, Idukki, and Thrissur, which have been the worst affected by unprecedented monsoon rainfall that has left over three lakh people displaced and 47 dead.
Modi assured that the Centre would extend all possible assistance for relief and rehabilitation. The National Disaster Response Force has deployed 45 teams across affected districts. Officials confirmed the relief amount will be disbursed within 72 hours through direct bank transfers. The Prime Minister also announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh for families of the deceased and Rs 1.5 lakh for those who lost their homes.
