In a remarkable achievement, Maheep Purohit, a Class 12 student from Bikaner, has invented a groundbreaking pipeline monitoring solution that could save industries and governments hundreds of crores annually. His project, filed under the applicant JJP TECH, has already received a ₹3 lakh innovation grant from the Rajasthan government.

A Solution to Billions in Losses

Every year, India and other countries face pipeline-related losses worth thousands of crores due to leaks, corrosion, blockages, and accidents. These failures not only cause financial setbacks but also lead to environmental disasters, water shortages, and energy wastage.

According to global estimates:

  • Pipeline leaks and failures cost the oil and gas sector over ₹25,000 crore annually.
  • Water distribution losses in India alone amount to 30–40% of total supply, valued at ₹20,000 crore per year.
  • Corrosion and damage repairs drain thousands of crores in maintenance budgets worldwide.

By introducing a predictive and preventive monitoring approach, Maheep’s innovation could cut these losses by 30–40%, translating into savings of over ₹10,000 crore every year if adopted on a national scale.

Why It Matters

Pipelines are the lifelines of modern infrastructure, carrying water, oil, gas, and chemicals across vast distances. A single unnoticed failure can cause millions in damage within hours. With industries and governments increasingly focusing on sustainability, safety, and cost efficiency, this invention comes at the right time.

Key benefits include:

  • Saving thousands of crores in infrastructure costs
  • Reducing accident risks and environmental hazards
  • Ensuring uninterrupted water and energy supply
  • Supporting India’s smart infrastructure vision

Recognition and Support

The Rajasthan government’s ₹3 lakh grant highlights the importance of this project for both economic and environmental safety. Officials believe that such innovations from young talent can play a major role in India’s journey towards advanced and sustainable infrastructure management.

About the Young Innovator

At just 17 years old, Maheep Purohit is proving that age is no barrier to innovation. As a Class 12 student, he has not only developed a project with global impact potential but also secured patent protection and government recognition. His journey inspires students across India to pursue research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

What Maheep says:

Speaking about the approach behind the project, Maheep Purohit said, “Pipeline accidents not only cause financial losses but also pose a threat to life, property, and the environment. With AIPIS, our goal is to provide a system that can detect threats before they escalate.
